The ISL62884C is a single-phase PWM buck regulator formiroprocessor core power supply. It uses an integratedgate drivers to provide a complete solution. The PWMmodulator of ISL62884C is based on Intersil's RobustRipple Regulator (R3™) technology. Compared withtraditional modulators, the R3™ modulator commandsvariable switching frequency during load transients,achieving faster transient response. With the samemodulator, the switching frequency is reduced at lightload, increasing the regulator efficiency.The ISL62884C is fully compliant with IMVP-6™specifications. It responds to DPRSLPVR signals byentering/exiting diode emulation mode. It reports theregulator output current through the IMON pin. It sensesthe current by using either discrete resistor or inductorDCR whose variation over-temperature can be thermallycompensated by a single NTC thermistor. It usesdifferential remote voltage sensing to accurately regulatethe processor die voltage. The adaptive body diodeconduction time reduction function minimizes the bodydiode conduction loss in diode emulation mode.User-selectable overshoot reduction function offers anoption to aggressively reduce the output capacitors aswell as the option to disable it for users concerned aboutincreased system thermal stress.
